Library Holiday Closures

Broome County Public Library will close at 1PM on Tuesday, December 24. The library will be closed on December 25 and 26. We will reopen Saturday, December 27 at 9AM.

Ebooks and Audiobooks

You need a library card to access ebooks and audiobooks. You are able to access these with a temporary card. Visit here for  more information on signing up for a temporary card.

Libby/Overdrive

Libby/Overdrive allows you to access ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines that you can read or listen to on your computer, smartphone, tablet, or other devices. Libby and Overdrive are the same. You can access Libby/Overdrive online or through the app. 

The online site is called Overdrive. It can be accessed online by going to: https://fourcounty.overdrive.com/

  • Overdrive is available to anyone with a library card from any of the Four County libraries. 
  • You will need your library card number and pin number to borrow items. 
  • You can login to your account by clicking the ‘sign in’ button on the top of the page. 
     

The app is called Libby. It can be accessed by downloading the app onto your smartphone, tablet, or other devices. The app picture is a dark red and blue circle showing an open blue book and the top of someone’s head; it looks like they’re reading. You will need your library card number and pin to borrow items on the app. 

  • If you’re downloading items to a Kindle, you will also need your login information for your Amazon account. 
  • You can borrow 4 items at a time and you can have 6 holds at a time. 
  • Items can be renewed, if there are no holds on the item. 
  • You can choose to check items out for 21 or 14 days. 
  • There are no fines for these items.

Hoopla

Hoopla allows you to access audiobooks, ebooks, movies, and music that you can read, watch, or listen to on your computer, smartphone, tablet, or other devices. You can access https://www.hoopladigital.com/https://www.hoopladigital.com/https://www.hoopladigital.com/ or through the app. 

Broome County Public Library’s Hoopla is available to those with a library card from one of the Broome County libraries that are in the Four County Library System. This does not include Your Home Public Library. You will need to sign up for their Hoopla. 

  • Hoopla can be access online by going to: https://www.hoopladigital.com/.
  • You can create an account by clicking ‘Get Started.’ You will need your library card number, your pin, and a valid email address, and it will ask you to create a password. 
  • If you have an account, you can sign in by clicking the ‘Login’ button at the top of the page. You will need your email address and the password you created when you signed up for an account. 

The app can be accessed by downloading the Hoopla app onto your smartphone, tablet, or other devices. The app picture is a light blue circle with the word hoopla across it in lowercase white letters. 

  • To make an account you will need to provide your library card number, a valid e-mail address, and you will need to create a password.
  • To sign in you will need your email address and the password you created. 
  • You can borrow 5 items a month. 
  • Items are automatically returned on their due date. You cannot place holds on items. 
  • There are no fines for these items.
