The Friends of the Broome County Public Library is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting BCPL’s programs and special projects through:
- Regularly scheduled book sales in our Permanent Book Sale Room
- Our Book Shop, which is just inside the main entrance
- Memberships
- Donations
- Grants
Our Purpose
- To maintain an association of people interested in books and libraries
- To promote an informed interest in the Broome County Public Library, its services, facilities, and needs
- To receive, administer, and distribute gifts/donations to promote the objectives of BCPL
Help support the Library by becoming an active member of the Friends of the Broome County Public Library. The benefits of your membership include:
- Members-only book sales & book sale notices
- An opportunity to vote for officers at the annual meeting
- Volunteer opportunities for all ages
Donate to the Friends to help support BCPL.
We accept monetary donations, as well as books, DVDs, CDs, & other types of media.
Projects recently funded by the Friends:
- The annual Summer Reading Program
- STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) programs for children, teens, & families
- Grab-N-Go Bags for children and teens
- Game programs for all ages, including monthly adult & D&D sessions.
- 3D printers
- Sewing machines
- Weekly yoga classes
- New AV equipment for the meeting rooms
- Professional development for BCPL staff
- The Peer Support Program
- The Farm to Library Produce Cooler
- The Period Pantry
- Assistive computers for visually impaired patrons
- The Reading Garden
